As professional Gold Coast wedding photographers, we are the eyes and ears of the weddings we attend. It’s our job to capture every special moment, while blending in with the background and letting the spouses-to-be take centre stage. Over our years of experience—more than 500 weddings—we have collated a treasure trove of tips that can save you time, stress, and tears on your wedding day.
1. Think about the season
Your wedding’s location is one of the most important decisions you will make in the planning process, as it sets the tone for the day. Guests may not remember the types of flowers in your bouquet, or the details on the tablecloth, but they will remember the stunning mountain views at your homestead wedding. When choosing your location, make sure you take the season into account. If you’re getting married in the summer, you’ll need to think about the air-flow and mosquitoes. In the winter, on the other hand, you’ll have to consider the early sun-set. As experts on Gold Coast wedding photography, we’ll know when to whisk you away for that perfect sun-set shot, no matter the season.
2. Communicate openly
Weddings are always a group effort. The venue managers, bar staff, florists, photographers and videographers are all there to do their part. Before they can do their part properly, however, they need to know what you are looking for. Honesty and communication are two of the most important aspects of a smooth wedding day. Tell your florist about your ideal colour palette. Let your photographer know if you’d like to have photos taken while you’re getting ready. Respectful, honest communication is key.
3. Make a schedule
It’s important to have a wedding schedule to help keep everyone on track on your wedding day. This schedule will not only help you to feel more relaxed and in-control, but it will also allow us, as your Brisbane wedding photographer, to be one step ahead of the guests when planning shots and organising group photos.
4. Take time out for yourself
Some of the most beautiful wedding photos are those that catch the spontaneous, uncontrived moments between the newly-weds. Everyone is there to celebrate the love between two people, and it’s our job to capture that love in image form. It’s easy to be overwhelmed by the stress and pressure of your wedding day. Remember to take some time for yourself and your spouse, enjoy each other, and celebrate the beautiful union you’ve created.
"Gradually getting more and more little snippets from our wonderful photographer! I wanted to share this so friends and family can find his page and watch for updates. Also for the many newly engaged Facebook friends I have, I definitely recommend Will (and his team). They were so professional and thorough, and his prices were quite a lot less than other photographers I looked at."
"Couldn't be happier with the outcome, love the team, especially Simon and Brian! Excellent job and services!! Strongly recommended!"
“Will, Simon, I would like to sincerely thank you guys for making our big day so memorable. Both photos and video are met our requirements and exceed our expectations. To most photographers, your wedding is ‘just another job’ and I’ve heard of photographers being pushy, impatient and sometimes rude! These are all comments we’ve heard from friends, but we experienced the exact opposite with Willidea. "
“We absolutely cannot say too many wonderful things about Will, We loved working with him as he was willing to work with our requests and yet still had fantastic judgment as to what shots would look the best. He’s really talented and trustworthy.”
“ We really love our wedding video, it’s exactly what we want. All of our friends and family still comment on how amazing our pictures and films are. Thanks guys."
